A Chelsea news source has reportedly told Spanish news outlet that they expect Real Madrid star Marco Asensio will likely don Eden Hazard’s No. 10 shirt next season.
The Premier League club are reportedly keen on signing the Spain international this summer as they look to field a team capable of challenging the likes Arsenal, Manchester United, Liverpool, Manchester City and Tottenham to the Premier League title next season.
Asensio endured a mixed campaign for the Champions League winners last season. He starred at the start of the season but as time goes, he found himself down the pecking order under Zinedine Zidane.
And as reported by Spanish website Diario Gol via the Daily Express, the Spaniard, who is rated at €75million by Transfermkt, is expected to be handed the No. 10 shirt at Chelsea next season while weekly wages around €150,000 is said to be on cards for the Spaniard.
But this shirt number will become vacant if Hazard, who have been linked with move away from the club to Real Madrid, does eventually leave this season.
A source has supposedly told the Spanish news outlet that Asensio will be handed the Belgian shirt number only if he leaves to Real Madrid and the need for a replacement showcases. But with Chelsea said to be valuing Hazard far more than what PSG paid Barcelona for the signing of Neymar last summer, Real could consider adding Asensio as part of the deal that will see them have their target this summer.
A lot could still happen in the next three week of the transfer window and we are backing Asensio to join Chelsea before the close of the window.
