Arsenal look well set for the upcoming season having made some great signings (five) so far this summer window in Sokratis Papastathopoulos, Stephan Lichtsteiner, Bernd Leno, Lucas Torreira and Matteo.
Although, the Gunners can head into the upcoming season with all this signing but there remains a correction in the team that needs to be addressed and that is tying Aaron Ramsey down to a new contract whose current deal is set to expire next summer.
Arsenal, according to Sky Sports, are believed to be in talks with the Frenchman over a bumper package on his current deal that will see him earn £200,000-a-week on his current deal in which he’s earning £100,000-a-week. The Gunners new head-coach is believed to be very fond of the player and had once mentioned the Welshman is part of his plans for Arsenal.
Prior his new side preseason match against Boreham Wood, he said:
“I’m very happy with him. For me, every day, every training session, he has the ambition I want. He’s working with a quality, the type of ability that I want. I want to work with him.”
Emery was also questioned about the contract situation surrounding Ramsey at Arsenal and the Spaniard’s assertions clearly shows there’s a contract (three-year) on card for the Welshman.
“This is one question for the player and for the club.
“In my opinion, I’ve said to Ivan [Gazidis], Raul [Sanllehi] and Sven [Mislintat] that I think he’s an important player for me.”
Arsenal have once been stuck in such limbo for once last season with both Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez which resulted in the latter joining Manchester United but managed to tie Ozil down to a new contract and would not want to be in such situation this summer.
