Celtic According to reports, Scottish champions Celtic FC are among top host clubs who have made moves to sign Anderlecht midfielder Adrien Trebel.
The Belgium news source claim the Hoops along with Porto and Hertha Berlin have been in hot pursuit of the midfielder this summer, with reported £7.2million (€8m) refused by the Belgian club.
HLN report the Jupiler Pro League club has no intention of losing one of their ‘indispensable’ players, with Trebel considered one of manager Hein Vanhaezebrouck’s key men.
After a summer of few activities, Celtic certainly have plenty of money in the bank, with the late-window £20million exit of Mousa Dembele to Lyon and summer spending that was fairly meagre given the club’s resources.
Scott Bain and Odsonne Edouard made their loan moves to Parkhead permanent, while Youssouf Mulumbu and former Hoops defender Emilio Izaguirre joined Brendan Rodgers’ side on free transfers. Furthermore, Daniel Arzani and Filip Benkovic signed for Celtic on season-long loan deals from Premier League sides Manchester City and Leicester.
It was hardly what supporters craved, and Scotland’s richest club must make amends in January. Trebel is a class act and it is unsurprising he has generated such concerted interest from major clubs. With doubts over the future of weekend hero Olivier Ntcham, Celtic could do far worse than land the Belgium-based ace.
