Arsenal have joined Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur in the race to sign Sevilla and France international Steven N’Zonzi this summer.
This report is according to Spanish news outlet Diario De Sevilla, who report that the two north London sides are in the race for the World Cup winner, and that Serie A club AS Roma is keen on his signature as well.
As per the Daily Mail, the tabloid have reported the player has a release clause around £35m on his current contract, which would be a great price depending on the player’s abilities.
The midfielder played a bit-part role for France’s triumph in Russia this summer, coming in as an half-time sub for N’Golo kante to help his French side secure the World Cup trophy against Croatia.
N’Zonzi, however, play a much bigger role for Sevilla last season, as he registered 44 appearances in all outings to help the La Liga side finish six in La Liga, as well as making it to the UEFA Champions League quarter finals stages and the Copa Del Rey final.
The Gunners need a solid midfielder at the club and signing the Frenchman would be a massive boost for Emery’s side while Spurs, on the other hand, could do with a midfielder to help steady competition for Eric Dier and Moussa Dembele in the centre of the park at White Hart Lane.
N’Zonzi is a well known player in the Premier League and have much experience that would benefit whichever side he joins this summer.
