Arsenal boss Unai Emery is believed to have personally contacted Argentinian Ever Banega in an attempt to sign him for Arsenal during the summer transfer window. Banega who is presently plying his trade with La Liga club Sevilla but his future with the Spanish outfit remains doubt following the recent dismissal of director of football Oscar Arias.
According to Spanish news outlet Estadio Deportivo, the Gunners manager is supposedly believed on a reunion with the midfielder after having previously managed him during his time with Valencia and Sevilla. It is added that the former Paris Saint-Germain boss has personally contacted Banega via a phone call in order to try and lure him to join his new side this summer.
The midfielder, who stands at 1.75 m (5ft9in) rejoined Sevilla for a second stint last year and after spending one-year with Inter Milan, his future has once more come into just the focus this summer. The midfielder is said to have held a close relationship with director of football Arias at the Andalusian club and the 52-year-old’s sacking appears to have unsettled him.
However, Banega has yet to make his decision to leave Sevilla and any proceedings regarding this may only be done following his return from the World Cup finals in Russia.

Meanwhile, Arsenal are believed to have also reached an agreement with Borussia Dortmund to sign Sokratis but an announcement will be done next month with the Bundesliga club seeking to balance their accounts for the financial year.
In other news, Arsenal are also interested in signing Sampdoria and Uruguay international Lucas Torreira this summer and could be at the club in the next couple of weeks.
