Reports in British tabloid are claiming “Chelsea are set to announce the appointment of Napoli boss Maurizio Sarri as their manager next week for the upcoming 2018-19 season.”
The Daily Mail reports that his move to Chelsea will see him earn around £5.6m-a-year (£110k-a-week) with the London club. And the Italian gaffer is set to agree a three-year deal with the west London club on Monday.
The sacking of Antonio Conte would follow either before or after Sarri gets announced as Chelsea new manager which is likely to be in the same coming week.
Chelsea went through a torrid season under Conte last campaign as they failed to qualify for the Champions League. And despite guarding the club to securing the FA Cup title against Manchester United in May, it wasn’t enough to convince Roman Abramovich.
Having follow out with club chief and boards, it’s high time for Conte to find greener pastures elsewhere. Sarri, who guarded Napoli to the cusp of glory last year, had a fantastic season with the Italian club. Despite Juventus hijacking the trophy from Napoli last season, the Napples’ free-flowing football earned them a lot of plaudits.
Chelsea fans, however, will be expecting a brand new football style at Stamford Bridge next season. Conte and Mourinho’s playing style with Chelsea had been highly criticised.
After the announcement of Sarri as Chelsea new boss, the club’s transfer plans should follow once this has been done next week.
