According to emerging reports from Germany, Arsenal could launch a shocking move to sign RB Leipzig’s star Timo Werner this summer. Reports claims the likes of Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United are also considering move for the winger who is part of Germany’s team at the World Cup.
Reports from The Sun in February revealed the German rejected a new contract offer from the Bundesliga club which implies he could be on his way out of the club.
Werner, however, is said to be worth around £50 million and has personally been watched by Arsenal former Arsene Wenger when he scored two goals against Napoli during the Europa League competitions.
The impressive 22-year-old netted 21 goals in 45 appearances for his club last season across all competition and has also boast of brilliant record at international level with 10 goals for his country. It’s believed Arsenal could win the race for Werney with the arrays of German players they have in their ranks.
There’s no denying of his talents as the likes of Danny Welbeck and Alex Iwobi failed to live up to expectation last. Wernger could be Arsenal’s best option to replace the duo on the wing.
Although the 21-year-old is potentially an expensive transfer with him believed to be worth around £50million, and the Gunners would be better investing that money elsewhere.
