Arsenal are reportedly keen on the signing of RB Leipzig’s star Timo Werner in the summer, according to The Sun.
The tabloid claim that the Gunners join Liverpool, Manchester United and Chelsea who are also in the race for the Germany star signature after he rejected a new contract at the Bundesliga club.
The Sun report that Werner is worth a whooping £50million and that Arsene Wenger has already personally watched the German on several occassions, as his side witnessed him net two goals against Napoli in the Europa League on Thursday.
He has been in top form for the Bundesliga club in their domestic league this season, netting 10 goals in 20 appearances.
He also has an impressive record at international level as well, with the winger having a total seven goals in 10 appearances for his country.
The above tabloid report suggests that the Gunners could win the race for Werner ahead of their Premier League rivals, as Arsenal have several German players in their rank already and would find no issues settling in.
There’s no denying of his talents but with the likes of Danny Welbeck and Alex Iwobi misfiring so far this season, he could come in as the best option to replace the duo on the wing.
Although the 21-year-old is potentially an expensive transfer with him believed to be worth around £50million, and the Gunners would be better investing that money elsewhere.
