Celtic are running out of time before the summer window get shuts and they are still yet to strengthen the core of their team most especially the options at right-back.
Mikael Lustig has shown signs of hopelessness in his outings for Celtic this season and the Sweden defender was eventually replaced by Cristian Gamboa in the Hoops win at Partick Thistle on Saturday.
While his replacement played brilliant, Gamboa is by no means a long-time option at right-back for Celtic and Brendan Rodgers needs someone with a bit more height and defensive specialty in order to help keep at bay some of the better teams in Scotland, and across Europe.
This as seen Celtic join the race to sign Crystal Palace defender Joel Ward before the end of the month. As reported by The Sun, West Bromwich Albion and Middlesbrough are also said to be interested in signing the 28-year-old right-back on loan.
Ward has registered over 160 Premier League appearances to his name with Palace but the defender is yet to make any appearances this campaign whilst he’s been tipped to leave the club on loan before 31 of August deadline.
Celtic should come in and look to hijack West Brom and Middlesbrough’s move for the right-back, who would serve as an ideal replacement to Lustig.
The signing of the 6ft 1 tall (transfermarkt) right back, will give Celtic a significant improvement to their defence and the Hoops can look forward to defending their domestic titles yet again with ease.
