End of Willian – Chelsea set to table £50m winger bid, “Medicals will be next”

It’s funny and surprising how Chelsea are silently becoming title contenders with many even only crediting Manchester City and Liverpool as the only side for the title this season.

In Maurizio Sarri’s first season-in-charge of the team, the Blues still remains unbeaten in all competitions and are sitting third in the Premier League table with just four points adrift league leaders Manchester City.

However, the west London brilliant start to the new season also shows two areas of weakness they would need to strengthen.

Without any doubt, everyone knows how flakey David Luis and Marcos Alonso have been so far this season which would call for a replacement soon while another area they would to upgrade would the right-sided winger in the team.

Chelsea were linked with the signing of Frenchman in the summer after his move to Liverpool did not materialize and the report has been on since then.

But rumours have started to circulate that Sarri has personally called Fekir in the hopes of convincing him to join Chelsea.

And the World Cup winner could be the missing link to their attacking cohort to link the team.

It may cost Chelsea upwards of £50m to recruit Fekir – which is something Roman Abramovich may be hesitant to do.

  1. posting such rubbish about David Luiz and Antonio Rudiger together with Marcos Alonso and Caeser Azpellequtta (Sarris’s first choice back line); just take a look at the Premiership table goals against stats. This defensive unit has had to contend with a complete style change from a 3 to a 4 back line and had the best DM player in the World (Ngolo Kante) taken away as defensive cover in front of them, to play a more advanced role with Sarriball. Jorginho is a fantastic netrome player with his huge range of accurate passing and movement but he is no Kante in front of our back line.
Like so many others before you as a would-be sports journo you just jump on the bandwagon of populist opposition clubs fans’ belief concerning David Luiz. He is the finest central defender in the Premiership today, unique in his ability to bring the ball forward at feet and a huge presence both on and off the pitch for the other players. Yes he makes the odd mistake (and don’t we hear about every bloody one!) Name me one other Premiership defender that doesn’t make mistakes. Notice how he leads the back four and his speed at recovery and interception. He has saved Chelsea in defence on numerous occasions both this season and prior to this season. He has played every Premiership game this season and is a firm Sarri favourite. Let’s just say that Chelsea fans’ would rather take Sarri’s opinion over that of fans/ sports writers who don’t follow the team as we do! KTBFFH
