Premier League giants Liverpool have been linked with a shocking move to sign Andrew Robertson’s Scotland rival Kieran Tierney from reigning Scottish Premiership champions Celtic.
The Merseyside who already have one Scotland left-back in the rank, could be tempted into signing another when the window opens this summer, according to Manchester Evening News.
Robertson has been one of impressive youngsters of the season since he joined Liverpool from Hull City last summer, and has grown into becoming a real fan favourite at Anfield. Robertson boasts of high warrior spirit, full-blooded approach and superb deliveries from out wide.
However, it is believed that the Merseyside could make a shocking move for his compatriot Tierney from Celtic this summer.
It’s reported that the three-time PFA Scotland Young Player of the Year is an high-demand, with Manchester United and Bournemouth both strongly showing interest in the player, although although Jose Mourinho is now understood to have made Juventus’ Alex Sandro his top target.
And the report adds that Jurgen Klopp’s men could enter race with their Premier League rival, having been linked with the Celtic player last year.
Per The Sun, the tabloid claim that the right-back is valued at around £20 million but it seems unlikely the Brendan Rodgers’ side will want to part with their impressive youngster after just recently signing a six-year contract at his boyhood club.
But if Liverpool were to pull off a deal for one of the most exciting young talents in British football, the battle between Robertson and Tierney at club level, never mind on the international stage, would be an intriguing watch.
