Arsenal new head-coach Unai Emery is currently preparing his new side for the start of the 2018/19 season, which will see him guarding the Gunners through his first season after replacing Arsene Wenger just over two months ago.
Since his appointment, the Spaniard has been keen on rewarding certain players with new deals to remain at the Emirates stadium.
And according to new reports, the Spanish boss appears to have been handed a new boost with one of his key players confirming that talks are going on over a possible new deal for him to remain at the club.
Wales international Aaron Ramsey is certainly one of the key players Arsenal as whole will be looking to keep at the club this summer no matter who comes knocking with reports claiming Premier League rivals Chelsea are considering move for the Wales 2016 Euro star.
Ramsey, 27, who is currently pocketing £110,000-a-week in wages, could see a pay-hike on his current deal to around £200,000-a-week, which Arsenal have hold talks over what could be a new contract for him in north London.
Ramsey in an exclusive interview after Arsenal’s pre-season win against Paris Saint-Germain in Singapore was question about possibility of signing a new contract, and he said:
“We’ll see what happens, but my agent and the club are talking.”
Despite confirming talks with Arsenal, Ramsey did go on to reveal that the two parties are yet to reach an agreement over a deal.
He the added:
“I’m not sure exactly what it hinges on, I’m just leaving it to them to discuss and to figure it out but we are yet to come to an agreement.”
Arsenal have reportedly set Ramsey’s asking price to around £50million, and the midfielder has registered over 50 appearances for Wales in all outings and was part of the Welsh team that reached the semi-finals of Euro 2016.
