Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois is reportedly in advanced talks over a sensational move to Real Madrid, but Chelsea are standing in his way until they can get a replacement.
The Belgian goalkeeper is heading into the final year of his current contract with the Blues, and Belgian news outlet HLN report that talks about the goalkeeper joining Real are at an advanced stage this summer.
The report adds further that the Blues will only the goalkeeper leave the club only when a replacement has been signed and it’s believed AS Roma’s Alisson Becker could be that man to replacement the Belgium international.
This report follows shortly after report from Italian news outlet Gianluza Di Marzio that states the new Blues head-coach Maurizio Sarri wants the Brazilian goalkeeper if Courtois does end up leaving the club.
It also claims Roma have been prepared to lower their asking price for Alisson to £61million, in a potential boost to Chelsea’s hopes of getting things done soon.
Courtois would be a big loss for Chelsea and a great signing for Madrid, having shone as one of the finest players in the world in his position for some time.
Alisson, however, also looks the real deal after rising to prominence with Roma, so Blues fans shouldn’t be too downhearted if that’s the change they make in goal this summer.
