Manchester Evening News claimed that Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has ended interest in Celtic defender Kieran Tierney, amidst speculation of a summer move.
It is believed that the Portuguese tactician has switch interest to Juventus’ Alex Sandro as he looks to offload Luke Shaw, who is set to leave Old Trafford this summer.
Mourinho was seen in Glasgow during Scotland’s friendly match with Costa Rica in March, as reports emerged that his side are considering move for Tierney, but he didn’t made Alex McLeish’s lineup due to an injury.
The Premier League club interest in Tierney shows a year of monitoring the developments and his overall progress in the Scottish Premiership.
Back in April 2017, the above-mentioned tabloid reported that the Red Devils were preparing to make a £20 million move for the full-back after he had showed an impressive performances recently.
With Tottenham Hotspur also said to be inrested in the defender, he snubbed their particular move-making, as he made it clear he would prefer to join Manchester United if – and it’s a big if – he was to leave, boosting their transfer hopes.
The report have now said Mourinho is prepared to let the Celtic youngster join another Premier League team, as Alex Sandro is his preferred choice in defence.
Bournemouth is another Premier League club believed to be also showing interest in the 20-year-old too, and could now be lining up an offer to match Celtic’s valuation.
Given how Tierney applies himself with the fans, the most likely outcome is that he stays at Parkhead, where he’s often committed his future.
