It is being reported this summer that Liverpool are keen on re-signing Spanish attacker and AC Milan’s Suso back to club.
Suso first joined Liverpool back in the summer of 2014 from his boyhood club Cadiz. The signing, some labelled under-the-radar soon had some eat their words.
The attacking midfielder showed series of brilliant performances with Liverpool’s youth-team and the Reds fans felt they had a special talent on their hands at Melwood.
However, the 24-year-old found himself deemed surplus to requirement under former Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers as the signing of the likes Daniel Sturridge and Philippe Coutinho left Suso fighting for game time. After his loan spell with Almeria in 2013-14, the player decided his future was no long with Liverpool.
Suso made sure he will see to the end of his contract and in January 2015, AC Milan paid a compensation fee to end that deal early and bring him to Italy.
Since joining Milan, Suso has been a star in Italian football. Although he had initial struggles doing his first year in Italy which saw him joined Genoa on loan in 2016, but the player has now begun to fulfil his potential at the San Siro.
Since the past two season, Suso has been a regular start and Milan’s best assist provider. This impressive form saw him make his debut for Spain national team last year.
Now it is being reported Liverpool are one of leading top sides keen on activating his release clause. Report from Italian news outlet Calciomercato this month revealed Suso has a €40 million (£35 million) release clause in his contract with Milan.
Considering the compensation paid to Liverpool in 2015 was reported by the Daily Mail to be just £1 million, Liverpool will not be taking the re-signing of Suso lightly. It would be at the cost of £34 million, considering they had the Spaniard in their clutches just three years ago.
