According to report on Tuesday morningl Steven Gerrard is edging closer to Glasgow Rangers manager’s position after Graeme Murty was “sacked” of his duties.
The 43-year-old was relieved of his duties was sacked in the fallout of Rangers’ 5-0 Old Firm demolition at the hands of Celtic at Parkhead on Sunday from the Hoops claimed their seventh successive league title.
“Graeme Murty has this morning been relieved of his duties as manager of Rangers”, a statement on the club’s official website read.
“Rangers are grateful to Graeme, who did not hesitate when asked last October to become interim manager after the departure of Pedro Caixinha and then, at the turn of the year, when he was offered the role as manager until the end of the season.
“Graeme has had to contend with difficult and challenging circumstances but conducted himself in a thoroughly professional manner. He will take some time to consider his options, which include returning to his role at the Rangers Academy.
“The club hopes to be in a position to comment further on the managerial situation in the near future.”
BBC Sport claims that the 37-year-old, who currently holds the position of the Champions League semi-finalists’ Under 18 coach, is on the brink of accepting the role at Ibrox Stadium, which will be his first senior managerial job since announcing his intentions to get into coaching following his retirement from football in 2017.

The only way Gerrard succeeds at Rangers if he guts that squad and is given TIME! Which he won’t cause the fans believe they should be challenging Celtic, when in reality they ain’t even close.

I love it how the pundits in Scotland are saying Steven Gerrard shouldn't take the rangers job because it'll be "too soon" wasn't Neil Lennon first job the manager of Celtic? And around the same age as Steven Gerrard?

So, Steven Gerrard is to become the next manager of Rangers.
His first job is to stop Brendan Rogers from winning the title.
He’s done it before.
No doubt he'll do it again.

See if Rangers think that they can announce Steven Gerrard as manager, sign a 36 year old goalkeeper and still expect me to renew my season ticket they’re absolutely spot on

My thoughts on Gerrard. It's 100% a massive risk. But when is appointing a manager not a risk in some way or another? Who better to get in to the mind of Rodgers than his former captain. Gerrard has played highest level under pressure, Rangers won't phase him.
I'm Excited 🇬🇧

Rangers fans are right to see light at the end of the tunnel.
Been used to seeing the team lurch from one farce to another.
Steven Gerrard is the man chosen to help lead the club forward. He will need every single fan behind him without hesitation.
Intriguing times ahead.

Whilst I'm as intrigued as anyone about Gerrard going to Rangers, I am baffled as to why he's being talked up for it by so many when Giggs got laughed at for wanting the Swansea job.
Gerrard has only coached youth football and Rangers is a HUGE job. What's he done to deserve it?
