According to Graeme Bailey of The Gambling Times website, Celtic are hoping for a reunion with Brendan Rodgers and former Liverpool midfielder Joe Allen.
The Daily Mirror claimed in one of their report last month that the Scottish champions were interested in signing the Wales international, who was relegated with Stoke City from the Premier League this past season.
Allen, have previously worked together with Rodgers at Swansea City and Liverpool, where they nearly secured the Premier League title.
And, if reports from The Gambling Times, are anything to go by, the 28-year-old is very “keen to link up with Rodgers” for a third time.
However, the report also adds that a whole of top-flight team including the likes of Newcastle United, West Ham United, and Everton are interested in signing the player back to the Premier League.
The stumbling block in his deal however, is the £25 million in his release clause, although that is if one of the Premier League’s top six clubs bid for him, and it remains to be seen if Celtic can compete financially with any of the other English clubs mentioned.
West Ham and Everton, for instance, could beat Rodgers’s to the signing of the Welshman but the player believed to be worth in the region of £18.3 million by CIES Football Observatory does give the Glasgow champions something of an advantage.
But the questions is is whether Joe Allen really worth the scuffle, and whether or not we need him at the club? Let us know your thoughts below:
