He made it into the 2006 MLS SuperDraft as the seventeenth overall with the New York Red Bull. In 2016, Jozy Altidore made his professional debut 2006 at the age of 16 in a 3-1 Open Cup loss to D.C. United. He went on to become the youngest player to score in the Major League Soccer playoff in the same year, breaking the record set by DaMarcus Beasley by almost three years.
