Permier League giant Arsenal have been reported to have identified Wesley Moraes as the a replacement for Danny Welbeck, who could part ways with the summer.
The England forward’s contract with the Gunners is set to expire at the end of the season with some rumours claiming that the club might offer him a contract extension, but no offer has been coming his way due to his crucial injury.
Talking about the England star, Unai Emery said: “He’s progressing very well. He is working and starting to touch the ball and to work on the pitch.
“His progress with such a big injury is going very well. It’s difficult for him to play matches this season but he is progressing very well and maybe the doctor will tell us he can come train with us in the last weeks of this season. After, his thing is to speak with the club [about his future].”
Italian outlet Calciomercato is reporting that the Gunners are interesting in signing Brugges’ attacker, who the club was formerly linked to the Brazilian forward for the whole of 2018 and this January winter transfer window.
The Italian outlet also claims that Napoli are currently considering on a move to take over the Gunners in the race to sign the Brazilian.
The report claims that Arsenal are willing to cough up €17 million for Moraes, who has been found the back of the net 15 times in and registered 10 assists in 40 matches for the Belgian club Club Brugge with two of those goals scored in the Champions League against AS Monaco.
