Premier League title chasers Liverpool have taken a step forward in the bid of strengthening their team for next season.
The Reds have been reported to have taken the lead in the battle for the signature of Nicolas Pepe having made an official enquiry over the availability of the attacker.
The 23-year-old attacker’s agent took to the media to confirm during the weekend about the amount of interests several clubs in Europe have shown for his client.
Arsenal have been linked with the Ivorian since last summer being a long-term admirer and Chelsea keen on signing him as a potential replacement for Eden Hazard. The Ligue 1 star also sparked an interest in Manchester United and Bayern Munich, who are yet to make an official approach.
Reports from French media Le10Sport claims that Liverpool are now leading the pack in the race to sign the £75m-rated attacker, as they close to agree to personal terms with the star.
Nicolas Pepe has been prolific for his club this season as he bagged 19 goals and further created 11 assists in 32 League appearances, which makes him the first player in the division to have double figures in assist and goals.
