According to reports in the media, Liverpool are currently leading the race to sign Lorenzo Insigne ahead of the summer transfer window.
The Italian forward’s future with the Serie A club is reported to be hanging on a thread as Head coach Carlo Ancelotti is keen for a squad overhaul by the end of the season.
Napoli, who need to raise funds for the summer transfer window, is reported by Corriere dello Sport to have placed a £60 million price on the forward.
Several European clubs are said to be linked with the goascorer, with Premier League club Liverpool leading the race for the signature alonsdie of Ligue 1 giant Paris Saint-Germain.
But all that could mean nothing as the 27-year-old forward would like to join Maurizio Sarri at Chelsea rather than joining Liverpool. Which is understandable as Sarri managed the Italian striker during his spell as manager at Napoli.
Klopp has earlier revealed that he is a big fan of the Italy international, but the blow in the transfer is Insigne is a big fan and admirer of the Blues boss Sarri.
Insigne believes that Sarri helped him unlock his striking career at Napoli as he scored 20 goals in the 2016/17 campaign which is his highest for the Serie A club.
Liverpool is currently in the market for a new striker this summer with Daniel Sturridge is being linked with an away move and his contract set to expire.
Lorenzo Insigne’s wish to join Sarri at Stamford Bridge could come to a bitter end should Chelsea’s appeal to FIFA fail.
Isingne, who has been played as a second striker under Ancelotti this campaign, has managed to score 13 goals and created 7 assist in 38 appearances for Napoli.
