Chelsea are reportedly locked in battle with Premier League rival Liverpool over the signing of Porto defender Alex Telles this summer, according to reports.
The Brazilian left-back, who began this career in his homeland before moving to Turkey with Galatasaray, Italy on loan with Inter and Portugal where he currently ply his trade with Porto.
However, Telles has heavily been linked with a move away from Portugal this summer, as Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea and Liverpool are all said to be keen on signing the player this summer as well.
It’s claimed that he has a £35 million release clause in his current contract with the Portuguese side, something which is affordable for Liverpool and are keen to activate in order to strengthen thier back line. However, with Alberto Moreno and Andrew Robertson already in their ranks, perhaps the Merseyside could back out in the race to sign the defender this summer as more of a priority.
Chelsea, however, are known to be in the market for a new full-back, with AS Roma’s Alessandro Florenzi also rumoured to be a target for the Blues’. Although, the managerial situation at the club is still up in the air, but this won’t stop the club activities this summer in order to challenge for the title next season.
The defender registered 45 appearances for Porto last season, netting four goals in the process.
