Having gotten excited with Virgil van Dijk swapping former club Southampton for Liverpool in January, the Merseyside still need a new central defender, and Jurgen Klopp was duly awarded with one of Europe’s best.
However, the Reds still have problems at the back, and another new central defender could yet be needed. Indeed, one can not deny how poor Liverpool’s defencies at back have been.
Luckily, there are many top defenders currently playing in Europe that the German boss could consider making a move for. One player that could be a good signing for club is Salif Sane who’s rated at £14.4 million by Transfer Markt and currently plays in Bundesliga league Hannover 96.
Sane has continually improved this season and has shown he is amongst the very best players in Germany, and whilst many were thinking his sparkling form might slow down, he has only gotten better in recent months.
Standing at a towering 6ft4, the Senegal international is a real unit in the air, and so the chances of him playing alongside Virgil van Dijk would see Liverpool’s defence a strong one.
According to WhoScored.com, he averages a whopping 6.4 successful aerial duels per game, which highlights his efficiency in that regard.
A brilliant tackler, he also isn’t afraid to get stuck in, and that has been evidenced by his fine form for his club this term. He’s also brilliant at intercepting the ball, with the mental side of his game just as good as the physical side.
In truth, based on his form this term, Sane is amongst Europe’s best, and his relatively low market value of £14.4 million makes him the perfect signing.
