As per a report from ESPN, Manchester United are eyeing a summer move for Celtic sensation, Kieran Tierney. The Red Devils have been on the lookout for a new left-back and based on his performances this season, Tierney is the toast of the season.
He has been lauded time and again for his marauding displays on the left-hand side and it comes as no surprise that United have included him in their list of targets for the summer.
The 20-year-old is truly the definition of a modern-day full-back. With every passing day, managers are encouraging their full-backs to oscillate between defending and attacking. Merely keeping opponent attackers at bay is not enough anymore since people are now expecting goals from full-backs.
To that end, Tierney has certainly flourished throughout the season. He has played a starring role for Celtic and is easily one of their most promising players right now.
In addition to that, the player has also managed to score 4 goals and provide a solitary assist this season. As far as his defensive prowess is concerned, Tierney makes an average of 2 tackles, 2.3 interceptions and 2.6 clearances per game.
Manchester United converted winger Ashley Young into a full-back and he has been doing admirably at left-back. Luke Shaw, upon returning from injury, has also featured a couple of times for the club. However, Young is on the wrong side of 30 and Shaw’s future continues to be uncertain for the time being.
