There is a new report that says Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce predicts Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur target Jack Grealish will sign a new £40,000-a-week deal with Villa within the coming days, after the Championship giants reportedly blocked a move for the midfielder to join Chelsea and Spurs.
The, who plays as a winger or as an attacking midfielder, was heavily linked with a move to the Premier League for the majority of the transfer window but instead chose to remain with his boyhood club and looks set for a brand new deal with Aston Villa.
As per the Express, Grealish’s new contract would double his current wage of £20,000-a-week, and Bruce is optimistic that the winger will agree to sign a new deal.
Bruce said, as quoted by the Daily Express:
“I wouldn’t be surprised if Jack doesn’t sign a new contract within the next week.
“We have to look after him. From what I gather from the owner, whatever he says he sticks to it.
“Jack’s disappointed, which is understandable, but let’s let the rawness disappear and move on.”
Aston Villa fans will be delighted that they have kept Grealish for another season as the Villa look to begin a new chapter in the club’s history following the arrivals of new billionaire owners. At the beginning of the transfer window, it looked as if Villa had no choice of selling their star midfielder. However, the club narrowly avoided administration and have miraculously kept Grealish and a number of key players from last season.
Grealish’s new deal with Villa would surely be one that will delight Aston Villa fans with the club looking to begin a new chapter in their history following the arrivals of new billionaire. At the beginning of this window, it looked as if the Championship club had no choice than selling the midfielder.
Fans’ hope was for a return to the Premier League after losing the play-off final to Fulham and with Grealish maintained for one more year, but with Grealish committing his future with the club, fans should have a strong chance of achieving this goal. The club began the new season with a solid away victory at Hull and will fancy their chances of a home win over Wigan. Although Grealish lacked goals and assists last season, it is clear he remains one of the hottest prospects in the second tier and has a pivotal role to play for his side.
