As per reports emanating from Goal.com, Manchester City could be on the verge of hijacking their neighbours Manchester United to the signing of Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Ruben Neves this summer.
Pep Guardiola’s men are believed to be strongly keen on the signing of the 21-year-old Portuguese youngster having been trailing since the two months past. It’s also reported the reigning Premier League champions have made enquiry for the signing of the player towards the end of the summer transfer window, but City were unable to make progress in his pursuit with the newly-promoted EPL club and his agent Jorge Mendes.
Although, Manchester City looks well-stocked in midfielder having the likes of Kevin De Bruney, David Silva, Bernando Silva, Fernandinho, Ilkay Gundogan, Fabian Delph and the likes in the ranks but are still eyeing move for one more signing.
The Citizens missed out on the signing of Jorginho earlier this summer as Chelsea came in to gazzump their move for the midfielder.
But City fear any future bid will be beaten by United. Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho is also represented by Mendes, who is said to be aware that United would be interested in Neves became available.
