Manchester United leading the race to sign Prolific European defender

Premier League giants Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal have been reported to be in the race for the signing of Leicester City defender Harry Maguire ahead of the opening of the summer transfer window.

Last summer, the Red Devils – while under Jose Mourinho – were reported to very close in signing the English defender but the move eventually fell through as a fee was not agreed on by both parties, as per report from Telegraph.

Following their failed move for the centre-back last summer, the Manchester club will be returning on getting the deal done this transfer window.

The Old Trafford’s outfit poor 2018/19 campaign has all been due their leaky defence as they were able to leak 54 goals in 38 Premier League games for the 2018/19 campaign, which is their worst defense record among the top nine clubs on the the table.

With that being known, manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is reported to be desperate on fixing both the defensive and attacking issues with the hopes of making the club a proper Premier League competitor and securing a spot in the Champions League.

Reports have it that the Red Devils will have to compete with Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur, who recently joined the race, for the Foxes star. The report however, claims that Solskjaer’s side is leading in the race to sign the Maguire, who has a £60 million price tag on him.

The 26-year-old defender, who has appeared in 31 games scoring three goals, have helped the Brendan Rodgers’ side to a ninth finish in the English top Flight table.

New reports just coming in claims that League winners Manchester City have joined the race and are set to splash the cash on the England international, who they see as a replacement for their former captain Vincent Kompany, this summer.
