Real Madrid’s Dani Ceballos is set to become Liverpool’s first signing of the summer after the La Liga club has agreed to sell the midfielder, according to reports in Spain via the Express.
The Spain under-21 international joined Madrid from Real Betis in a £15m last summer but has struggled to force his way into the club’s starting eleven on a regular basis this season.
Ceballos has started just 2 La Liga games this season with most of his appearances coming from the bench or in the cup competition. It’s believed that the player is frustrated with lack of playing time at Bernabeu and would be considering plying his trade elsewhere come this summer.
Don Balon, via the Express, say a deal is now expected to go through at the end of the season with Ceballos set to become Liverpool’s first signing of the summer but Madrid will insists on a buy-back clause being inserted in to any agreement.
No transfer fee is suggested in the report but TeamTalk reported last month that Ceballos was valued at £25m and I think he’d be an excellent piece of business if Liverpool could snap him up at that price in today’s market.
We’ll have to wait and see how things develop over the coming weeks but Ceballos would provide Klopp with another top class option in midfield if he does end up making the move to Anfield this summer.
