Chelsea have reportedly been handed a huge boost in the race to sign Gonzalo Higuain as it’s believed the Southa American striker is eager to secure a move to Stamford Bridge.
Higuain has established himself as one of the most clinical forwards across Europe over the years, netting 289 career goals in 575 appearances.
Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri is fully aware of good Higuain’s, given the duo both worked together at Napoli and helped the former Real Madrid striker in the 2015/16 season with Napoli, with Higuain bagging 38 goals in just 42 games.
Signing a striker as prolific as Higuain could be exactly what the Blues need in the second half of the season with neither Alvaro Morata nor Olivier Giroud offering a regular source of goals.
In turn the West London club could be set to receive a boost as earlier report from The Sun reports that Higuain is eager to join the Blues when the window re-opens next week.
It remains to be seen how the situation will unfolds for AC Milan given Higuain is currently on a season-long loan deal with the San Siro outfits, but given his struggles in recent weeks, they might be considering alternative options anyway.
This season, Higuain has netted just seven goals in 19 appearances, going without a goal in his last seven Serie A outings for the Rossoneri.
