Chelsea are in negotiations to sign the Inter midfielder and the Blues new head-coach Maurizio Sarri has personally asked the board to get a deal over the line for the 26-year-old.
Chelsea have been handed a major boost in their pursuit of Mattias Vecino as Inter Milan close in on a deal for Arturo Vida. So far this window, the Blues have only brought in midfielder Jorginho and back-up goalkeeper Rob Green to Chelsea this summer but the Italian gaffer is desperate for more signings to strengthen his squad ahead of the 2018/19 season.
Sarri is still interested in signing a centre-back, a forward and another midfielder and report has linked Uruguay international Vecino as a serious target for the club.
According to The Evening Standard, the Nerrazzuri’s are closing in on a loan move for Bayern Munich’s Vidal after completing signing of Radja Nainggolan from Roma.
Inter Milan would be willing to let Vecino join Chelsea only if an agreement is reached for the signing of Vidal before the transfer window closes by 9th August. The Italian gaffer has worked with Uruguayan at Empoli and believes he would be a significant upgrade on Tiemoue Bakayoko and Danny Drinkwater.
Vecino could join Chelsea this summer for around £31million and he would be the Blues 3rd signing of the summer.
