According to reports, Arsenal are said to be planing a £35m offer for Espanyol and Spain defender Mario Hermaso, however, the Gunners could be in line to face stiff competition with Real who are also said to be interested in signing him.
Arsenal’s performance in defence this season has not really been impressive, with the Gunners boss Unai Emery’s side netting 19 goals in all competitions so far.
However, it seems like the north London club are looking to solve their defensive issues with the signing of Hermaso, as according to The Sun, it claimed Arsenal are planning to make a £35m bid for the 23-year-old.
It’s also said that the Gunners could have another trouble in attempt to signing him, as they state that Real Madrid have a buy-back clause in the player’s deal, meaning the player will be available to join Real for a fee much lower than the one Emery’s side are willing to pay.
He would be fantastic signing for Arsenal, as he has shown during his time with Espanyol that he truly is one of the most promising stars that La Liga has to offer.
The La Liga side current sit 5th place in the table, just three points adrift league leaders Barcelona.
However, Arsenal’s attempts to sign the player could be difficult if Real are serious about buying Hermoso, as their buy-back clause in his deal may end up being the difference in them beating the Gunners to the Spaniard’s signature.
Espanyol Hermoso in defense, has kept five clean sheets so far in the league, and have conceded just 10 goals which is the fourth lowest total in the league.
The centre-back has been the star of Espanyol’s defence so far this term, with his commanding displays clearly grabbing the attention of some of Europe’s top clubs if this report from the Sun is anything to go by.
