Premier League club Chelsea are reportedly considering move for Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey, who contract talks with the Gunners has stalled. The Welshman has been an Arsenal player for the past ten seasons but his future with the club now looks very bleak with his current contract expiring in under 12 months’ time.
As reported by the Daily Mail, the FA Cup holders are keeping a close watch on the £110,000-a-week ace and they could seek to take advantage of this contract situation in signing him before the transfer deadline. Although, it’s believed the former Barcelona target won’t leave Arsenal on the cheap with the Gunners believed to demand around £30m – £50m for his probable sale in the transfer window.
The midfielder has received a mixed opinion from Arsenal fans over the past decade but there is not denying that Ramsey’s has been part of Arsenal’s success in recent season. He netted the Gunners’ match-winning goal in the 2014 FA Cup final which ended their nine-year trophy drought and he has since been able to replicate the showing in the 2017 edition where he headed in the winner against the Blues.
Ramsey is a superb box-to-box midfielder, who could become more brilliant under the tutelage of the Gunners new head-coach Unai Emery and the next four days would determine whether he will be joining Chelsea on commit his long-term future to the north London outfits.
He’s yet to receive an extension on his current deal with the club that runs until June 2019 and there has not been any indication regarding his wage demands but Ramsey is said to be demanding a new weekly package that put him on par with winter signings Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
Ramsey joined the Gunners from Cardiff City during the summer of 2008 and he has since racked over 50 goals and 50 assists whilst appearing in over 300 matches across all competitions. He is presently the club’s all-time leading scorer from midfield surpassing the previous record set by Cesc Fabregas.
