Leeds United have been installed favourties to sign Celtic centre-forward Moussa Dembele before the closure of the January transfer window, according to the latest bookmakers’ odds.
Ladbrokes have priced the Championship side as the 9/2 frontrunners to sign the France under-21 international from the Scottish top-flight league leaders.
Meanwhile, Premier League sides such as Crystal Palace are priced at 6/2, Newcastle United at 8/1 while Brighton and Hove Albion who’ve severally been linked with the striker are priced at 10/1 to sign Dembele in the next 24 hours until the window gets closed.
According to The Sun, the tabloid have previously reported that Palace had made enquiries about the possibility of signing Dembele in January, but that the Bhoys were said to shun off the Premier League side in order to keep hold of the priced asset.
His future at the Parkhead has been very much up in the air and there are just two days left in the January window for Celtic to try keep him.
Meanwhile, Leeds’ move for a new centre-forward has been well document this month, but as of yet Thomas Christensen’s side are yet to strengthen that area. Dembele is developing into a rising star in Scotland and has 40 goals during his 71 appearances for Celtic.
The Frenchman is an extremely talented youngster that is being tipped for greatness in the future and it would be gesture if Leeds were to sign him. Dembele would certainly be the striker the Whites have been looking and they could definitely shoot into the play-off positions this season with the striker.
However, Leeds move for him seems very unrealistic at the closing hour of the window despite being installed favourites by bookmakers. Leeds may have to rely on Pierre-Michel Lasogga to get the job done in attack and that will start on Tuesday night with the league trip to Hull.
