According to reports, Premier League giants Arsenal F.C. are lining up a £40 million move to sign Boca Juniors star Cristian Pavon in January.
The report is according to The Sun, who claim contact between the Gunners and the Argentine outfit has already been made and a deal is likely to be struck in the New Year.
Apparently Unai Emery is a big fan of the South American, who has caught the eye of many since bursting onto the scene in 2014 with his superb dribbling and speed.
However, there are also reports Fulham are interested in signing the winger, meaning they might not have it all their own way in January, with the Cottagers in desperate need of someone to inspire them to safety.
As it stands, Arsenal will feel they’ll outbid Fulham to the signing of Pavon, but Claudio Ranieri’s side would surely be able to offer him more playing time. If Pavon does sign for Arsenal though, he could well become a new version of the Gunners former player Andrey Arshavin. The duo are physically similar, the South American stands at 5ft 7in, while Arshavin is touch taller at 5ft 8in.
The latter spent four full seasons at the Emirates between 2008-13, although he went back to Zenit Saint Petersburg for the second half of the 2011/12 campaign, before leaving permanently that summer.
His best form deserted him in his final couple of years at the club, but there can be no denying how explosive and dangerous he was when he first signed for Arsenal.
