“New John Terry” – Chelsea set to complete $57m defender deal as Cahill and Luiz replacement

Chelsea are reportedly closing in on the signing of Juventus’ and Italian defender Daniele Rugani in a £44.2million ($57,506,944.00) deal that is likely to be announced before end of this week.

Rugani has long been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge and it’s definitely the kind of centre-back Chelsea need to raise their game in the league next season.

Chelsea’s activity in the window so far has only been about the sacking and appointment of Antonio Conte and Maurizio with only signing of Jorginho from Napoli. However, happy days seems to be on the way back to Stamford Bridge, with some reports also claiming Gonzalo Higuain could be on his way to Chelsea.

The signing of Rugani with Higuain would be another great move for the club and serve as long-term option for the club defence and attack. Chelsea finish fifth in the Premier League last season and would miss out on Champions League football for the upcoming season.

Although, we should not that Rugani was not a guaranteed starter for Juventus, but despite this, the 23-year-old has shown glimpses of strong performances that shows he would become the Blues new “John Terry”.

Under Sarri’s tutelage at Chelsea, he would likely be the Italian first choice in his 4-3-3 formation lineup and we are backing him to flourish.
