Chelsea are closing in on securing the signing of Gonzalo Higuain, who is reportedly ready to join the Stamford Bridge outfit this summer.
As reported by Italian news outlet Corriere dello Sport, the former Real Madrid striker has accepted the approval to join the FA Cup holders this summer and the deal can closed for a fee worth around €60million.
Elsewhere, it was reported via Calcio Mercato that the striker has said yes to join Chelsea with chances of working with his former boss Maurizio sarri and a contract that will guarantee him of €7million-a-year (€135,000-a-week) as well.
Higuain joined Juventus from Napoli from Napoli two seasons ago and signed a deal worth around €7million-a-year, so it’s believed the South American wants the same wage package if he’s to join the Blues this summer.
Chelsea’s forward have been as it is best since the 2016/17 season when Diego Costa netted 20 goals that secured them the Premier League titles.
Costa was sold out of the club in the winter transfer window and Antonio Conte mainly preferred starting Alvaro Morata upfront in his starting XI. Morata, however, failed to live up to expectation since he joined from Real Madrid and was only able to score 11 goals in 31 epl fixtures.
Chelsea would need to either replace him or find a better competition for the Spaniard. The move for Higuain would prove an ideal one as the Argentine has been a much better goal scorer than the Spain international.
Higuain among all brilliant other star striker in Serie A, hols the record of scoring most goals in a single Serie A campaign (36 goals in 2015-16). However, last season he only netted 16 goals in 35 league games. Will he be a hit in the Premier League?
