Manchester United are said to be leading the race to sign Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly having been priced at 2/1 by Ladbrokes.
As far as the centre-back position is concerned, Koulibaly is regarded as one of the finest players in the world, and he has been linked as a £90million target for United in recent times by the Daily Mirror.
It seems very clear that the Red Devils could do with strengthening at the back, which has looked an area of weakness for the club for some time now.
While the team has been impressive since the sacking of Jose Mourinho, the new head-coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will surely be under no illusions that he could do with adding at least one new centre-back this winter.
However, it remains to be seen how much Solskjaer will be willing to spend, or even how much he’ll have at his reach for transfer targets, but we believe there could be something in this growing link with Koulibaly.
Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said:
“Solskjaer may well be trusted with a hefty transfer budget next month and the odds suggest Koulibaly’s the first player who’ll move to Manchester.”
The 27-year-old, who stands at 6ft5″, would undoubtedly be very warmly welcomed at Old Trafford and could play a big part in improving the fortunes of this MUFC side between now and May.
