The future of Belgium international Eden Hazard at Chelsea still remains uncertain, as rumours about his exit from Stamford Bridge continue to make rounds with the player himself hinting a transfer “is possible” during an interview with French television at the weekend.
However, Hazard said he’s not leaving Chelsea in January but that a move could be on cards in June if he doesn’t sign an extension to his current contract, which runs until the summer of 2020.
That said, it would appear as if the Blues need to start preparing for life without the 27-year-old and we take a look three rising stars Chelsea could sign as replacement….
Andreas Pereira (Manchester United)
The Mirror suggested last week that Chelsea could be ready to sign Andreas Pereira from Manchester United for just £10m. Pereira is out of contract in the summer and the Old Trafford club do have an option to extend his deal by another year, although it’s claimed by same Mirror that the club are ready to cash in on the youngster.
He has mostly been used as a defensive midfielder under Jose Mourinho in a bid to curb attacking instincts and Pereira has been down the pecking order this season. Pereira is a youngster who can flourish in Chelsea under an attacking minded Maurizio Sarri.
The midfielder has only registered a total of 598 minutes of first-team football across 18 appearances so far with Manchester United and he has only appeared in just four top-flight games this season. Pereira is yet to make any appearance for Man United since since their embarrassing 3-2 defeat to Brighton and Hove Albions in August.
Jadon Sancho (Borussia Dortmund)
Jandon Sancho is another player for the future, the former Manchester City player has already been linked with a move to Chelsea this season. He has been an impressive option so far for Dortmund, netting five goals and creating eight assists in eighteen outings across all competitions, and Sancho’s experience enough in the Bundesliga top-flight is enough to force his way into Gareth Southgate’s England side.
He has already registered three international appearances for the Three Lions and his development may be better served by playing first-team football with Dortmund in the Bundesliga.
Christian Pulisic (Borussia Dortmund)
The Blues have been linked with a move for Borussia Dortmund’s brilliant Christian Pulisic and he would appear to be the most likely man to fill Hazard’s boots in the long-term. The USA international has scored 15 goals and laid on 24 assists in 110 games for Dortmund and he is increasingly likely to depart the Bundesliga soon.
Pulisic is still only 20 years old and he would surely relish the opportunity to step into Hazard’s sizeable shoes.
