Former Manchester United defender Rafael Da Silva has commited his future to Ligue 1 outfit Lyon by signing a two-year contract extension, the club announced officially.
The 28-year-old was bought to Old Trafford in 2008 alongside his twin brother Fabio by the Reds manger Sir Alex Ferguson as they helped the English club lift up three Premier League titles.
Rafael, who joined the Ligue 1 outfit Lyon on a four year deal back in 2015, have registered 117 appearances for the club, with 25 of them being played in an European game.
The 28-year-old, whose new contract is set to expire in 2021, said after signing his the new deal: “Everybody knew I wanted to stay here. It’s a club and a city that I really like.”
“I’ve been trying to show on the pitch this desire to stay and we reached a two-year agreement,” he said.
Rafael Da Silva is said to be loved by former Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson.
