Armenia international and Arsenal star Henrikh Mkhitaryan will be missing the Europa League final, after the club decided not to include him in the squad to face Chelsea in Baku.
The departing Aaron Ramsey, on loan attacker Denis Suarez and now Mkhitaryan makes it the third player to be ruled out for the final game against Chelsea on May 29.
Doubts of the Armenian attacker playing in the European final were formerly rumours, and now it has been officially confirmed he won’t participate.
The reports claims that his unavailability for the trip to Baku is placed on Political reasons rising between his country and Azerbaijan and his safety would be at a great risk.
UK ambassadors was stated to have given assurance on the safety of the player for his trip for the Europa League final, but both the club and the attacker was not fully convinced about making a trip to Baku.
With this being know, Arsenal took to their official website to explain to their fans, writing: “We are very disappointed to announce that Henrikh Mkhitaryan will not be travelling with the squad for our Uefa Europa League final against Chelsea.
“We have thoroughly explored all the options for Micki to be part of the squad but after discussing this with Micki and his family we have collectively agreed he will not be in our travelling party.”
