Premier League giants Arsenal are reportedly considering to revive their long-term interest in RB Leipzig’s midfielder Emil Forsberg. The Sweden international has been a huge figure for the Bundesliga giants since their time in the second tier but he is likely to pursue a new challenge during this summer’s transfer window.
According to Italian news outlet CalcioMercato, the outlet claimed the North London club are planning to reignite their interest in the player after discussing about the same with head coach Unai Emery. The new Arsenal manager had considered a move for him while still in-charge as Paris Saint-Germain boss.
However, Arsenal will face keen competition from European rivals Juventus, who have been equally linked with the player over the past 12 months. Forsberg was simply an impressive player for Leipzig and was stunning in his debut season between 2016 and 2017 where he registered eight goals and 12 assists across all competition for the Bundesliga giants.
Despite this, the £35m-rated is highly valued by his suitors owing to his brilliant passing and forcefulness skills on the counter attack and he has been able to play in different positions on the attack side from his regular role which is playing behind the main striker.
Arsenal, however, their issues lies mainly in the holding midfield and central defensive departments during the course of the 2017/18 season and the club getting linked for a player in the role which is not necessarily an issue at the club is surprising.
Although, it could be that the club are considering some competition for Mesut Ozil who hasn’t been impressive playing in the number 10 position against top teams. The Germany international was only able to create one assist and scored just one goals against the Premier League top five last season.
