Patrice Evra was born on 15 May 1981 in Senegal. He is currently aged 41 at the time of this writing. The following season, Evra played a pivotal role in helping Monaco reach the 2004 UEFA Champions League final where they had to play against Porto in Germany. The French club succumbed to a 3-0 defeat. His impressive performance for the club that season saw him awarded the UNFP Young Player of the Year, becoming the second defender to win the award after Philippe Christanval in 1997. He stayed with the club for another season till he moved to Manchester United in 2006.

On 10 January 2006, Manchester United revealed the signing of Patrice Evra from Monaco for a fee of £5.5 million, a fee which pivoted the net worth of Evra in the long run.
