Paul Gascoigne was born on 27 May 1967 in Gateshead, County Durham to John, who was a hod carrier, and Carol, who worked in the factory. His name “Paul John Gascoigne”, was in tribute to Paul McCartney and John Lennon of the Beatles. Growing up, Paul went to Breckenbeds Junior High School, and then Heathfield Senior High School, which were both located in the Low Fell area of Gateshead. After failing to impress in trials at Ipswich Town, Middlesbrough and Southampton, he was signed as a schoolboy to Newcastle United in 1980. This was where Paul Gascoigne’s net worth began its rise.
His first team debut happened as a substitute in a 1-0 victory against Queens Park Rangers on 13 April 1985.
