According to the Daily Express, Borussia Dortmund’s and Greek defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos has arrived in London from Greece on Saturday night as he prepares to complete his £18m move to Arsenal from Borussia Dortmund.
The Gunners have strongly been linked with a move for the defender this summer as Unai Emery looks to strengthen the Gunners defender that shipped in 51 Premier League goals under Arsene Wenger last season.
The Dortmund defender has been the club’s key target and the British tabloid claim an £18m deal to sign him has been agreed with Dortmund two weeks ago but his transfer to Arsenal had to be delay until July so they could put the transfer through in a new financial year.
The Express says the defender was spotted at Kalamata airport in Greece on Saturday night where he boarded British Airways flight to London with his wife Xanthippi.
He arrive safe and sound in the London capital as a photo [below] has take over the internet on social media showing the defender and his wife walking around London on Sunday afternoon.
Papastathopoulos is now expected to undergo his medicals checks with the Gunners on “later this week” and a formal announcement should be made within the next 24 hours as long as there are no last minute problems.
The defender is now set to become the Gunners’ third signing of the summer following the arrivals of right-back Stephan Lichtsteiner and goalkeeper Bernd Leno while a deal to sign defensive midfielder Lucas Torreira is also reportedly on the cards.
