Reports: Celtic braced for £10m deal from Sevilla for Boyata

As reported by the Daily Record, Celtic and Belgium international Dedryck Boyata is reportedly a target for La Liga giants Sevilla this summer.

Although, it’s claimed the La Liga giants have joined the race to sign the £10million-rated Belgian defender as a deal looks likely to be done this summer.

The report adds further that Celtic are still reluctant to sell Boyata until they find a replacement for the defender but are open to listening to bid.

However, it is believed that Brendan Rodgers could be open to a sale for Boyata this summer so he does not leave for nothing next summer when his contract with the club expires.

Boyata leaving the club is a tough one for the club and the Hoops’ £10million asking price for the defender might be a tempting offer should Sevilla end up submitting an offer, but this means a replacement would already have been signed in the last few weeks of the window.

Boyata is a talented defender who showed his ability among top players at the 2018 World Cup held in Russia and he has been a superb figure in Celtic ranks for many years now. However, with his current contract running from now until next summer, Celtic has a big decision to make regarding this future.

The transfer, however, all depends on Boyata’s wish, if he has his heart set on leaving Celtic next summer, then decision regarding his future would be sorted this summer. However, if he showed a strong willingness to commit his future with Celtic, the he won’t need to panic and he can get on with strengthening other areas of the team.
