Reports: Serie A star will become a Manchester United player in January

Having put up a poor performance since the beginning of the season, Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is now more keen to strengthen up his team frontline in January.

According to reports, United are close to signing a new striker, who is said to be Mario Mandzukic, during the winter transfer window.

The Juventus forward, who has yet to register a single appearance for the club this season, is reportedly keen on a move away from the club in search of more game time.

Life has been difficult for the 33-year-old under new manager Maurizio Sarri, who excluded from the club’s Champions League squad and will not be expected to feature in their group stage.

In the search for more game time, reports claim that the Croatia international has rejected offers coming from the Middle East, which is said to be big money offers, preferring to join a European club instead.

Italian news giants, Calciomercato, confirmed the 33-year-old striker will be a Red Devils player in January.

The report further claims that the Italian giants will be expecting an offer of £10million from the English club in a deal which could potentially rise to £15 million.

Mario Mandzukic, who has a contract with Juventus set to expire in the summer of 2021, could become a United player in January according to Calciomercato, an Italian news outlet one can rely on when it comes to transfer-talks.

Manchester United are currently experiencing their worst season yet after the sale of two forwards, Alexis Sanchez and Romelu Lukaku, in the summer.

With the duo gone, Solskjaer relies mostly on his young strikers Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial, who have both been in and out of the team due to injuries.

The Red Devils are currently sitting at the 14th spot on the Premier League with 10 points in nine games so far. United have to make some changes in the team attack in order to compete this season.
