Born in Recife, Brazil, Rivaldo came to this world on April 19, 1972. His full name is Rivaldo Víctor Borba Ferreira. He is currently aged 51 years. Rivaldo started his journey into football at the age of 16 years, having signed a professional contract with Paulistano Futebol Clube in 1989. He played for the club till 1991 and he opt to join Santa Cruz, and he also enjoyed some spells with Mogi Mirim, Corinthians, and Palmeiras before moving to Europe to join Deportivo de La Coruna in 1996. Following his amazing performance with the club, he was signed by Barcelona in 1997 where he partnered with Patrick Kluivert and won two La Liga titles, one Copa del Rey and one UEFA Super Cup. During his tenure with Barcelona, he scored an important hat-trick against Valencia in 2001, which included a last-minute 20-year bicycle kick winner that helped the club qualify for the 2001/02 UEFA Champions League. That hat trick is still considered one of the greatest ever. He scored 130 goals with the Spanish club, and that made his one of Barcelona’s highest goalscorers of all time.

In 2002, Rivaldo moved to Italy to join AC Milan in Serie A. His career with Milan was quite short as he only spent a season with the club before terminating his contract the following season. However, he still managed to win the Coppa Italia, UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Super Cup, contributing only 8 goals. He returned to his country, Brazil, to join Cruzeiro for only eleven games before moving to Greece to join Olympiacos. He played there for three seasons and contributed 43 goals in 93 games in all competitions for the club, and he lifted three Super League Greece titles and two Greek Cups. Rivaldo went on to play for AEK Athens, Bunyodkor, São Paulo, Kabuscorp and São Caetano. In August 2015, the legendary Brazilian finally announced his retirement from football at the age of 41 years.

Scoring 35 goals in 74 matches for the Brazil national team, Rivaldo is seventh on the list for the highest goalscorer for the country. He was instrumental for Brazil as he was part of the attacking trio consisting of Rivaldo, Ronaldo and Ronaldinho, which went on to win the 2002 FIFA World Cup.
