With Chelsea the latest big name to be linked to the young left back, Rodgers says it’s natural for clubs to covet his star player who, he says, is only going to get better.
Brendan Rodgers admits he’s bracing himself for summer bids from Europe’s biggest clubs for Kieran Tierney after Chelsea emerged as a contender for the £20million Celtic full-back.
The Hoops boss talked up the talent of the teenager in the wake of yesterday’s 4-1 savaging of St Johnstone, making it a full calendar year since they’ve lost a domestic game.
And he insists the English champs-in-waiting won’t be the only club eyeing the Scotland star.
“He’s a super talented boy and there’s not too many left backs in Europe that are talented at 19 years old to play for a big club. I have no doubt in this boy’s qualities.
“But you have to remember this is the time of year strategic leaks come out to help these types of process.
“So I never get too bothered about it. He’s a Celtic player with another four years on his contract. “He absolutely loves it here but I would expect the very biggest clubs in the most competitive leagues to be interested in him because he’s a huge talent.”
