Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers is desperate on signing Odsonne Edouard on a permanent deal this summer and he is prepared to break the club’s transfer record to sign the young French striker.
Rodgers is said to be strong admirer of the skillful Paris Saint-Germain striker and is ready to secure his signing for Celtic.
Odsonne netted 11 goals in 29 appearances while on loan at Celtic this season, helping the club seal their second consecutive domestic treble.
These performances have inspired Rodgers and his managerial team to do whatever it takes in making his move a permanent transfer – despite still having Leigh Griffiths and Moussa Dembele at the club.
Tweets from Evening Times journalist Alison McConnell claims that Edouard’s buyout clause is set a £10 million, and that Celtic would be more than happy to pay that.
The journalist also asserted that Celtic offer Premier League champions Manchester City £10 million for Patrick Roberts last summer, but they are not willing to sell the winger.
If this are anything to go by, then it shows that Rodgers will indeed break the club’s transfer record for the right player. The Northern Irishman’s pursuit of Edouard, however, will raised question marks about the future of other strikers at the club.
