According to report from British tabloids, Scottish champions Celtic are showing keen interest in signing Swansea’s and Ghana international attacker Jordan Ayew this summer.
Nana Oduro Sarfo, Berekum Chelsea director of football in the Ghanaian top flight claimed the Bhoys are leading the race to sign the attacker.
Apparently, Hoops boss Brendan Rodgers is ready to convince the club’s in sanctioning Ayew’s mouth-watering £14million buyout clause. Rodgers wants his side to perform well in the Champions League and he believes with player like Ayew, Celtic could go further in the competition.
Ayew, who netted 11 goals for the Swans last season would be an ideal signing for the Hoops. The Ghanaian forward has proven himself to be a goal-poacher and the Scottish League should be an easier side for him to adapt to.
According to Sarfo, the outlet claimed Premier League club Liverpool are also interested in the player and Celtic could face keen competition from this year Champions League finalist.
There could be need for a new forward in Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool squad but in light of this, the Reds might just have to move for someone more proven and this has seen the club get linked with the likes of Dembele and Dortmund’s Christian Pulisic.
“Jordan has had offers from several clubs after Swansea City’s relegation last season. He will surely not play in the Championship with them. Liverpool have shown interest in him but Scottish side Celtic and their coach seem to be serious with their interest.
“I believe he may go to Scotland looking at how events are unfolding since they want to meet every demand. They speak English just like in England so he can express himself well in there and meet the expectations in the league.”
